Hi everyone!
Today I made Mongolian Beef
ingredients
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 pound steak (sirloin or flank), sliced thinly
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sauce such as sambal oelek
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/3 cup water or beef broth
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup green onion, sliced
directions
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat, add the beef and saute until just cooked, about 2-4 minutes.
- Add the mixture of the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, chili sauce, garlic, ginger and the mixture of the cornstarch and water to the pan and cook until it thickens a bit, about a minute.
- Remove from heat, mix in the sesame oil and serve over white rice or noodles, quinoa, etc. garnished with the green onions.
Note: I omitted the Sambal Oelek (bc i don't know what the heck that is lmao) but it still came out really good.
Cleaning:
I follow the system at www.flylady.net and the mission for today is:
Still working on the theme of our bedrooms being a retreat, we are going to focus on the "stuff" that is hanging around in our bedroom that need to be put away but we just have not gotten around to. Set your timer for 15 minutes and go to it. Hang up the clothes, put the laundry basket of clothes away, take the coffee mug on the nightstand to the kitchen and turn around and come right back, don't get sidetracked. Better yet, have an empty laundry basket and toss in the things that do not belong in your room and then take the basket around the house and deliver the items. Put things away and get the things that don't belong out of there.
